Welcome to lgbtiqainclusionindia.wordpress.com, the blog associated with LGBTIQA+ programs of SAATHII, implemented in partnership with community organisations and collectives in India.  We host reports and podcasts on LGBTIQA+ issues, case studies and narratives of  individuals marginalised on account of gender, sexuality, sex characteristics and other intersecting factors, and our collective efforts towards inclusion in the spheres of family, education, employment/livelihood, health care, laws and policies.

SAATHII’s LGBTIQA+ work is focused on amplifying community voices and efforts towards a shared vision of universal access to health, justice, social and economic protection.

Apart from contributing to national LGBTIQA+ advocacy efforts, our work focuses on supporting community-driven initiatives in the states of Gujarat, Kerala, Manipur, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Odisha, Tamil Nadu; with future work proposed in Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Mizoram and Telangana. Our community partners include All Manipur Nupi Maanbi Association (AMANA), Empowering Trans Ability (ETA), Maa Majhigouri, Nirangal-SIAAP, Queerala, Shamakami, Vikalp Women’s Group and other collectives. We are also pleased to be collaborating with NGO partners such as Nirantar, Varta Trust, and with individuals such as Dr. Sameera Jahagirdar from Mahatma Gandhi Medical College and Research Institute, Pondicherry.

SAATHII’s work towards LGBTIQA+ inclusion is supported directly by such past and present donors as the  AmplifyChange, American Jewish World Service, Astraea Lesbian Foundation for Justice, Elton John AIDS Foundation, European Union, Mac AIDS Fund, UNAIDS, UNDP and WHO-SEARO. It has also been support through the Sussex Social Science Impact Fund for the Manipur Economic Inclusion initiative being carried out by Pawan Dhall of the Varta Trust, Kolkata, and Paul Boyce of the Univ of Sussex School of Global Studies, in partnership with community advocates from AMANA and ETA.
